Re: Can FrameMaker versions 9 and 7.1 co-exist on the same machine?
Gary, I've got 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 8.0 and 9.0 on my virtualized Windows XP machine with no issues. I run several plug-ins including FrameScript and PatternStream in each version (also without issue). Re: Can FrameMaker versions 9 and 7.1 co-exist on the same machine?
Hi Gary I've got Fm 9, 8, 7.2, 7.0 and 6, all on the same computer (XP, SP3). And sometimes, I've got multiple versions running at the same time. No problems here. Just make sure you test Save as/Print to PDF. This may be a problem, depending on your version of Acrobat. Yes you can run multiple versions of FM on the same machine, but only the latest copy of Distiller. Make sure that you clean out all versions of Distiller before installing the new one. -Original Message- From: framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com] On Behalf Of Duncan, Gary Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 9:51 AM To: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: Can FrameMaker versions 9 and 7.1 co-exist on the same machine? Hi everyone, My company is thinking about purchasing FrameMaker 9. We currently use FrameMaker 7.1. Management would like writers to have both versions on their machines as the transition is made, if possible. I don't anticipate actually running the two versions at the same time. Are there any problems with doing this? We run Windows XP Professional (I'm not sure if we are all on the same version/SP, but probably). I have version 5.1/SP 3. Does anybody have any experience with this? Thank you! Gary ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as jeff.coatswo...@jonassoftware.com. Send list messages to fram...@lists.frameusers.com. I've installed two different versions with no problems in the past. Just specify different install directories.
