RE: Frame on Vista and Win7

2009-10-23 Thread Daniel Doornbos - PTU
Ajay,

My first step would be to go to the FrameMaker folder and double-click
the actual FrameMaker.exe file. That will rule out a faulty alias and
verify the installation.

Evidently you have attempted installing FrameMaker several times
already. I think you should start looking somewhere else.

Is your Windows 7 a factory installation or an upgrade? If it's an
upgrade, did you install Windows 7 on top of a previous Windows OS? If
you did, I suggest backing up all of your files and doing a clean
install of Windows 7.

Do you have a brand new PC? If so, are there any other problems that
could aid your diagnosis? Is the PC builder's tech support any help?

I wish you success...

Daniel

FM does not open. Please suggest.

I don't think you ever mentioned what version of FrameMaker you're
trying to install. Since Windows 7 is brand, spanking new, the older the
version of FM is, the more likely there are to be issues.

If it's a recently purchased copy of FM 9, I'd suggest contacting Adobe
support. If it's older or phone support isn't an option, check the Adobe
support site for reported issues with Windows 7, tips, tricks, etc., and
check the Adobe forums for the same.

Good luck!

2009-10-23 Thread Lea Rush
I'm surprised at the content of the message, though. Adobe is the
2nd-to-last company I'd expect to send out unsigned software. This is wildly
off-topic for this list, but does anyone here know if there's been a change
in security key protocols in Win7?

TIA,
Lea

The usual Windows 7 User Account Control (UAC) "feature" asking for
permission to do something. It is less obtrusive in Windows 7 compared
to Vista, but ... still a pain sometimes.

If you are sure that Adobe is not messing with your computer when
installing FrameMaker, then the answer to this question should be "Yes".

2009-10-22 Thread Art Campbell
I've been running 8 and 9 on W7 systems since the second beta version,
on several computers, without any problems. I suspect there wouldn't
be a problem with 7 either, but I haven't played with it.

And all the components of TCS2 seem to be fine under 7.
