I concur. In my last job I did exactly that (so engineers could find the doc they needed easily). The uber-book contained over 300 separate docs, and another 400-page big book as a sub-book. When you generate the index, make sure you DO NOT UPDATE ANY NUMBERING, as otherwise everything gets

It's been years since I've done this, but I think I got around this by creating one large master book using all content from all other books, not messing with page numbering, using a variable in each consumed book's chapters to indicate which book it is, and then using that variable in my Index

I will also echo that Bill Swallow's method is what I do. I use a utility called Indexing Tools Pro to set up the master book, but you can do it by hand. Bear in mind that if you are creating a PDF from your master index, the links won't go to the individual books unless you do some
