Dear FM Gurus,
Any thoughts on the possibility of creating condition-specific paragraph tags
(eg para_red, para_blue) that would somehow magically set an associated
condition?

In Paragraph Designer Default Font, set the color to Red and create a new tag.
That worked for me.

OK, bad example. How about para_chocolate, para_strawberry, para_neapolitan?

Do you mean if chocolate, strawberry, or neapolitan were color
choices? I know you can create your own color then add it to the
color palette and it shows up in the Paragraph Designer.

You can add this to the wish list for future releases, but FrameMaker
does currently support automatically assigning a condition based on
paragraph (character, table) tags, although it is fairly simple to
automate this via an FDK client or FrameScript.
So I'm a bit confused by Deirdre's
Hi Lester and all.
Ah yes, I misunderstood condition. He wants to apply a condition tag
to a paragraph tag, is that right?
I can change the color in a paragraph tag, and I can change the color
in a condition tag, but to apply a condition tag to a paragraph tag,
that I don't know how to do.
Hi Ben...
If you're trying to make it so when you tag a paragraph with a
particular style, it also applies a named condition to that paragraph,
you'd have to do that with an FDK plugin or FrameScript. It can be done,
but not out of the box.

Others have pointed out that such magic requires a script or plug-in.
But unless you need to do this _a lot_,
Have you tried to copy an example of the condition to the clipboard
with Edit Copy Special, then Find a paragraph format and Replace by
Pasting, with Replace All enabled?

Thanks, Peter, an interesting idea to check out.
My main motivation is to make conditions more visible, to avoid later
confusion/errors due to conditions being a hidden attribute.

Hi, Ben:
From your comment below, I'm not sure if you're aware of condition
indicators. You can create them with text attributes like overline,
underline, and strikethrough, plus a color - either one of the default
FM colors, or a custom color you create. You can opt to show or hide
these
