It occurs to me that as FrameMaker comes with an 'out of the box' XHTML
structured application, it might be a useful tool for prototyping web content
(without any WYSIWYG) prior to export into a web development app such as
Dreamweaver.
Has anyone used it like this? Did it work for you?

Hi all,
are there any fellow Adobe-Certified FrameMaker Instructors out there,
monitoring these lists? If so, could you please contact me off-list?
Thanks in advance.

But there *are* a couple of free Windows utilities you can use
to strip formatting from copied content under any circumstance,
including intra-FrameMaker copy and paste. At the moment I'm
using a tool called PureText by Steve P. Miller, but there are
several other choices, too.

Thanks for the information, Fred.
I would like to revise my original question. My primary need is not to paste
text. It is to paste variables, as follows:
1. Insert a variable in a particular location. The variable contains the
product name or other branding information.
2. Copy the variable.
Steve, I like your thinking, but in my view HTML code
is dead except as a transit mechanism. You can to get
your structured FrameMaker content into a CMS so you
spend less time in FTP/HTML updating stuff that is
better handled by an automated link and document
manager.

Yes, you can do this with FrameScript. You would need to come up with a
naming scheme for the new files you would create. With FrameScript, you can
scan through all the documents in a book for tables and figures. When you
find one, you create a new document, copy the table/figure to the new

First, thanks to those of you who responded to my distress signal yesterday.
Clearly, from the responses I received, I had not clearly stated my problem.
Guess that comes from being way too close to it and under the gun to get a

I have a question to this plug-in. Maybe someone knows how to deal with it.
I also want to collect fonts for the job. Not only the graphics.
So far i had to export set from ATM, and then run a script that collects the
fonts based on the set. Sets sometimes don't have all fonts needed. Is there
Hey Jeremy,
another day I dropped you mail on MIF2GO. Wonder if you received it.
MIF2GO cuts my index markers after 65 characters. I don't know why but it
became a real problem so I had to resort to an outside programmer to
re-write the MIF2GO conversion process for my purposes.
Any ideas?
Thanks Mike,
List is usefull. But the job still has to be done by hand :o(
Is there any way to access font information through Frame or FrameScript?

Never mind - I searched the archives some more and found that Fred Ridder
answered the question on March 2.

It's hard to keep a website updated, which is one
reason many people are switching to portable document
formats. I can do all the web development in my sleep,
but am looking toward a next generation site that I
can make portable without losing URL placement and
without extensive, manual
