Windows 7, Framemaker 11
I have no admin privileges on my computer. How can I make edits to the
structapps file? I know there is a workaround, but I don't remember what it was.
Thanks very much for anyone's help.

Hi Rebecca
You could save the edited structapps.fm file in a temporary folder, for
example C:\temp or on your desktop. Then, you can copy that file to the
FrameMaker installation folder, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11\Structure

Hi Robert
What does the _m2g_log.txt file say? Normally, you should get a .ditamap
file and one or more .dita or .xml files.
Cheers

And I’m checking the Wrap and Ship button before attempting production.
Thanks,

The output should be in _ship, not _wrap.

Hi Chris...
After applying the conversion table, you'll need to import the structure
application template and EDD. That's what controls the formatting. Until
you do that the formatting will likely be a bit wonky.
Even if you're not converting to DITA, you may find these sample files

Have you compared your .ini file with the one that's working?

I’m investigating how to continue our strategy of publishing to HTML so that we

Hi Rebecca,
you have to tell FrameMaker to work with a structapps.fm in a location
different than the program folder.
The necessary command is in the maker.ini -- which itself is also in
the FM folder, unfortunately.
But you can overwrite this general maker.ini with commands in your own

I found ePublisher Pro a lot more flexible and easy to use than RoboHelp.

You can merge FrameMaker content and javadoc content by taking javadoc output
into FrameMaker via MIF. A couple of jobs back, about 15 years ago, we did
exactly that, by having a developer write an add-in (doclet?) that caused
javadoc to output MIF instead of HTML. We then incorporated that
MIF Doclet used to be a free utility. I used it to go javadoc MIF

Hi Adam...
You'll need to get the variable definition value from a document in the
book, not the book itself, so you'll need to set up some process to
iterate through the book components and get an appropriate document
(perhaps the first non-generated component?). Once you get the document
Yes, it was based on MIF Doclet, but had to be modified to suit our needs. I
remember that there was some manual formatting that had to be done after
conversion, but it was a lot easier than trying to convert the raw HTML output
from javadoc into something useful.
