[Framers] Revisiting graphic formats, png or something else?

Hi I create PDF files, which are generally viewed on screen, and possibly printed by end-users from time to time, and responsive HTML help files. The user guides contain screen captures in .png format. Keeping the size of the HTML files down in important. Is there are better option than png?
