I'm trying to simplify a template I inherited (without changing its
appearance) in order to reduce the amount of cleanup required when
exporting to various formats.
The First page layout has three frames: a small box at the top left
that contains only the chapter number, to the right of that a

paragraphs, tables, or images in the document.
Format Page Layout Line Layout: nothing checked.

Experimenting, I set the Note tag to exactly match the paragraph tag
to exactly the same settings on all tabs of the Paragraph Designer
except for Numbering. They still don't behave the same.
There are no extra paragraphs, trailing spaces at the end of
paragraphs, tables, images, or format
Aha. The extra lines were coming from three-point empty paragraphs.
Nothing to do with formatting except that somebody who worked on this
doc spent way too much time on it.

I've had similar problems with FM10. Sometimes the problem is that
objects are appearing behind other objects (usually a document window,
sometimes another pod) instead of coming to the front. Try resizing
the document window or moving it around to see if there are things
hiding behind it.

I've inherited a 1000-page unstructured FrameMaker doc that's
delivered as PDF and RoboHelp-generated WebHelp. The RoboHelp project
has no content other than the FrameMaker book.

Sounds like FrameMaker has lost track of Acrobat 9. You probably need
to reinstall or repair Acrobat.

In FrameMaker 10.0.2.419, date building blocks work only in system
variables. In user variables, they display as literals minus the first
angle bracket, e.g. $monthname.
Anybody else seen this?

modify a date format that I forgot.
