Well, Although it's been a few years since I used 6, I believe the numbering properties you're asking about are controlled from the book file, not each component file nor the TOC itself. Highlight a component file in the book file window and right click; select Numbering... You should see tabs,

I am a new Frame 6.0 user. Question 1: My chapter page numbers are 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2, etc. My appendices uses letters, such as A-1, A-2, A-3, etc. I did not find anything in the help that tells me how to set up the reference page of the TOC and Index to properly pick up the correct prefix
