FrameMaker -- removing heading rows in existing tables

2008-11-28 Thread Jim Owens
Recent online help work has exposed the fact that one of our table
formats has a heading row that isn't needed. In print we never noticed,
but in the Help, we're using a different background colour for heading
rows, and we see a simple table with the first row in a different colour
for no good reason.

Is there a convenient way to update our existing tables in FrameMaker so
that the heading row is converted to a body row for this format?

Re: FrameMaker -- removing heading rows in existing tables

2008-11-28 Thread David Spreadbury
Jim,
One easy way would be to create a new Table Format, identical to the one with
the colored heading row but without the heading row. Then apply this format to
the table you don't want to have a heading.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. I was hoping to update the existing table
format somehow, so that we don't have to add a new format to the catalog
or manually edit each table.

Re: FrameMaker -- removing heading rows in existing tables

2008-11-28 Thread Peter Gold
Hi, Jim:

Table formats don't set the number or size of rows or columns;
creating or modifying a table sets these features. Table formats
remember the size and number of columns and rows of the selected table
when you create or revise a table format.

For existing tables, you might try selecting and merging (Table
Straddle) the two heading rows. This combines the content of the two
rows, so you may need to do some clean up editing.

To revise the format to one heading row, select a new one-heading row
table, and click Update All in the Table Designer. New tables will
have the revised format.
