We use DITA-FMx by Leximation to write the topics for our knowledge base and
we publish it in HTMLHelp first, using the DITA Open Toolkit. We then
convert it to WebHelp, using chm2web.

Some industry people are really stuck on DRUPAL as a content (say
blog) manager which is supposed to be compatible w/FM. No hands on
here. May also want to check out WordPress. Both open source.

Can anyone recommend a product for creating and maintaining a knowledge
base?
And/or can you recommend functionality we should look for in such a
product?
Compatibility with FrameMaker would be a plus, but not absolutely
necessary.
