Hi Rick

I knew you 'd have a clever script like PathChanger. ;-)

I think my customer can use this. His main problem was actually to collect
all the files in a FrameMaker book to send them out for translation. Fm's
Package feature didn't work well, so I have already shown him where he can
purchase ArchiveES:

http://frameautomation.com/category/extendscript/

And now I see that this is also the place where we can find more information
on PathChanger:

http://frameautomation.com/solving-path-problems-with-pathchanger/

Thank you very much, again, Rick! You rock! ;-)

Cheers

Yves

Re: [Framers] Display full path in FrameMaker book or list of references

2017-07-18 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi Yves,

My PathChanger script will write out all of the absolute paths in a book
(images, cross-references, book components, etc.) to a csv file which can be
opened in Excel. The purpose of the script is to allow you to globally
changed referenced paths in case files get moved, images unresolved, etc.
But you could also use it to view the absolute paths.

Alternatively, a script could be written that could show the absolute path
to a selected image, book component, etc. Let me know what you envision as
the best solution for your problem. Thanks.

Hi Framers

If the path to a referenced file is really long, FrameMaker displays ..\ in
the FrameMaker book or ../ in the List of References, for example:

..\..\..\..\..\..\safety.fm in the Fm book

or

../../../../../warning_icon.png

Is there a way to see the full path instead?

Thanks

Re: [Framers] Display full path in FrameMaker book or list of references

2017-07-17 Thread Peter Gold
I had a faint memory that it's possible to name a single Windows drive with
multiple drive specifiers. In the thread mentioned earlier,

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/767183

I found that Lynne Price mentioned the subst command-line command about a
year ago, and suggested a strategy that might work. I didn't see any
further postings, so it's unclear if they are viable.

Ahh, I see. One thing you might do is put the referenced files on another drive
(and then relink) which would force the whole path to show.
