Re: [Framers] Having the next file start mid-page

2016-09-20 Thread Monique Semp
Has anyone come up with the technique of having a file start immediately
after the previous file, on the same page?

I take it that text insets don't work for some reason?

This seems similar to a question I posted about a month ago, "concatenate a
book folder's files without pagination ?", and also similar to Nancy
Allison's question earlier today, "Print .fms continuously on page?" Or is
there a subtlety I'm missing?

To my last month's query, Rick Quatro replied offlist offering his help, but
I never followed up :-(. (My question was because I was playing around with
various FrameMaker features as part of preparing for that "structured best
practices for unstructured tools" presentation, and so I didn't actually
have to solve the problem. But I do plan to get back to it, if I continue
working in FrameMaker for the doc set in question. Tools might be changing,
so it's not worth investing in improvements to the docs/files/structure just
yet.)

I already o what you are suggesting. Howerver, I want Heading 1s to appear
sequentially on the same page, even though they are the first style on the
first page of each new file.

If I understand your situation correctly, then you can have your first H1
immediately follow the Chapter Title if the Chapter title appears on a
master page First that includes two text frames, one for the title and
another for the rest of the text. Then set Heading 1 to start at Top of
Column instead of Top of Page.

I have a style called Chapter Title, with the next style Heading 1.

There may be 2-3 files with Heading 1 after the file for Chapter Title.

Right now, each Heading 1 has to start on the next page and I'd like it
  to
appear after the content of the Chapter Title page.

  Am I dreaming?
