RE: FrameMaker 9 on Windows 7 Ultimate
Same here. As I recall, I used FM 8, 9, 10 and 11 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit for quite some time on a Lenovo W-500 laptop, without any unusual behavior that I would/could attribute to Windows Ultimate. 2 years ago, I got a new Lenovo W-530 laptop with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I have FM 8 installed too, and it runs just fine. Re: FrameMaker 9 on Windows 7 Ultimate
I'm running Technical Communication Suite. There's no telling what the problem could be. Tech support at Dell (Makers of Alienware) recommended I reinstall my operating system. Someone else recommended that I reinstall Technical Communication Suite. Upgrading to the latest may solve my problem; if that was guaranteed, I wouldn't mind spending the money. I ran FrameMaker – forget which version though, but was probably FM 8 – on a Alienware 17” M7700 system some years ago with Windows 7 Ultimate without any problems. RE: FrameMaker 9 on Windows 7 Ultimate
That is unfortunate. A few other things that might be of note. 1. I assume that your installation of FM 9 is fully patched? I was on FM 9 for only a short while – I did find it to be less than useful and did experience some crashes, but not to the degree that you seem to be experiencing! The change-over to the new UI was particularly irritating, and I went on to FM 10 and then FM 11 fairly soon. 2. Have you considered doing a trial install of FM 12 to see if the system runs properly with that version? If no issues, that may indicate that the hardware is fine in general.
