RE: Set-up in Framemaker to link to PDF in attachment

2013-11-29 Thread de Rouck, Tom (Gent)
Hi Yves,

Thanks for the tip.
It doesn’t work however, which seems logic to me: “my_doc.pdf” isn’t in the
C:/temp/ folder, not even temporarily when opening the main pdf file. It’s only
in attachment of the main PDF and of course I can’t ask my users to put all
attached PDFs to the required folder.

Regards,
Tom

Framemaker checks and does not find a result. We can get the links to work in
PDF but then it has to be done manually and that's not what we want.
I hope I made myself clear...

You need Timesavers, from Microtype:
  http://www.microtype.com

That's the first place to go for PDF problems in Frame.
Highly recommended.

PDF supports this functionality, but there are no built-in hypertext markers
in

FrameMaker that will let you define it.

Other than linking manually (and re-doing this whenever the PDF is updated),

it is possible to use custom hypertext markers in the source FM file, in
conjunction

with TimeSavers + Embed shortcuts to embed PDFs (or other file types), as
well

as define links / bookmarks to the embedded items. Sample PDF produced this

way (no post-creation steps in Acrobat) is available at:
