TOC question

2008-07-16 Thread Mollye Barrett

I have a about 300 files with the Title (chapter name and paragraph
style) for each chapter on a master page. This works well for many
reasons but I need to generate a TOC that contains the Title and can't
pick it up from the mater page.

Other that redesigning the master page so the Title appears on the
Body page, is there a way to get the Title to generate in my TOC? It
seems I've done this before with a marker but can't make it work now?

Basically, no.

Sarah

PS In theory, you can create a "starter" TOC file *before* you generate
the TOC and have it set up correctly. I don't recommend this approach
for the faint-hearted.

Hi Folks,

I created a TOC template with the toc entries formatted just the way I
want them on the reference page. When I generate a TOC in any book,
the TOC is formatted according to a reference page from H***. Short of
opening the template file, importing the ref page from the template
TOC, and then generating the TOC again, is there any way I can have
new TOC within varios directories use the TOC template in Program
Files\Adobe\FrameMaker\Tesmplates\...?

Many Thanks.

You can place a copy of the TOC template file in the same directory as
your book, rename it to BooknameTOC.fm (where "Bookname" is the name of
your actual book). Then when you add a standard TOC to the book, Frame
will use this file to create the TOC.
