POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Blackboard’s product development staff is committed to delivering a quality product, on time and at a reasonable cost. Documentation Specialists are integral to this process. This position requires a high energy, talented individual to participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance for Blackboard’s Commerce Suite. Hundreds of clients rely on Blackboard's debit account systems to deliver convenient, secure and efficient campus auxiliary services to students, faculty and staff. To ensure that they are providing business efficiency, they turn to the Blackboard Transaction System to: Process millions of transactions each year, Automate services, Reduce errors, Eliminate operational redundancies, and Control labor costs. This position will report directly to the Sr. Product Manager and will work closely with the Transaction Systems Product Management, Engineering, and QA team members to ensure consistent implementation and operational execution of all development activities. Specific Responsibilities would include: Solving technical issues in dynamic development and production (customer) environments Assessing a situation quickly, from a non-biased point of view, and help arrive at the most beneficial resolution for all parties involved Working with product teams to develop documentation for the Blackboard Commerce Suite. Writing and editing system administration manuals, installation and configuration guides for hardware and software, and technical support manuals. Qualified candidate possesses exceptional writing skills and is comfortable producing drafts that require minimal revision and editorial oversight. Defining and scoping documentation requirements using product functional requirements document. Researching, developing and maintaining new and existing documents.. Interacting with requirements analysts, software developers, quality assurance and technical support associates. Preparing technical documentation for administrators, installers and developers. Ensuring that documents are technically accurate, user-focused, and free from errors. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS · 5+ years experience with a background in technology, documentation design and technical writing for software and/or hardware products. · Bachelor's degree preferred · Advanced Adobe Framemaker proficiency, including drawing tools, books, and cross-references · Photoshop or digital photo editing experience · Experienced with digital documents (HTML, PDF) · Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools. · Superior writing skills · Ability to communicate effectively with team members and resolve conflicting information · Ability to accurately scope documentation requirements and consistently meet deadlines · Well organized with ability to manage multiple projects Blackboard Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, gender, age, color, religion, national origin, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected factor.
