RE: images for mif2go
Why are you using BMPs John? I work in both FM and Word and never use BMPs for anything. BMP graphics are very large and unnecesarily bloat up the Word doc. And from what I've seen, they don't give me any better pictures than JPGs, or for that matter, GIFs. when embedded in Word. Bitmaps in WMFs are very similar to BMPs, so it's the best format to start with. It's a recommended practice with Mif2Go. I'm sure that Jeremy will be checking in on this any moment to either confirm what I say (and say it better), or tell me why what I'm doing is not the best way. It *is* the best way, when you want properly scaled images in Word at the best resolution. Mif2Go can make the BMPs for itself from other formats, but it uses Frame's graphic export filters to do that, and those filters are limited to screen resolution. That's fine for docs only viewed on screen, but looks poor when printed. Preconverting preserves the original resolution. It also lets us include any callouts or other Frame additions as vector elements in the WMF. -- Jeremy H. Griffith, at Omni Systems Inc. You simply need to have a .bmp for each graphic you use in Frame that isn't a .bmp. And your graphics should all be referenced, not embedded, which is best practice in Frame anyway. If you put each .bmp in the same directory as the matching .gif (or whatever other format), Mif2Go can find and use them when you make the settings in User's Guide par. 5.16.2.1, Converting referenced graphics before Mif2Go (best quality). Otherwise, Mif2Go can convert them itself, but that's slower and limited to the screen resolution, as in par. 5.16.2.2, Converting referenced graphics with Mif2Go (least effort). since I believe I recall someone saying LOL! That was me, quite recently... that non-BMP images in Frame do not always turn out sized properly in Word after going through mif2go? More precisely, since Word does not have a way of specifying scaling in an IMPORTPICTURE field, the only way of having Word import non-BMP (or WMF) images, they will *never* be sized properly unless they are coincidentally sized at 96 DPI in Frame, as explained in par. 5.16.2.3, Leaving graphics unconverted for Word (no scaling).
