Michael, I’d take a look at Marantz’s line of portable recorders. They have the exact equivalent of most every Zoom model but with better pre-amps and less ‘breakie'. They are sturdier than the TAscams I’ve seen as well. They do cost about twice as much as a comparative zoom though. But
