Just thinking, you could shoot optically with reversal b and cross
processing. That way, you could make your titles with black letters and
clear background.

I always shot titles on a transparency with the letters clear on opaque black.
Then you shot that on a white light table with high con stock.

IIRC, the old school method was printing the title on a card, white text on
black, and shooting it with special high contrast film, yes? Even if using an
LCD screen, it would seem the stock matters a lot. I ‘spose if you’re on a
certain budget, the LCD method lets you get decent results with
Agreed that shooting off an LCD monitor works shockingly well (just expect
to lose a roll experimenting with exposure, or shoot multiple exposures in
one roll). It won't look as good as optically done titles (mainly the
contrast will not be nearly as nice) but it gets the job done in a pinch.

In all seriousness, I've made basic titles in B, with fades in FCP &
Premiere in HD/2K/4K. Then I've shot them off the monitor screen with
either Super8 or 16mm film, playing them back full-screen. Excellent
results...if you get the camera centered and level.

Hola Esperanza!
Try shooting b reversal off the monitor frame by frame. Ive done this
with tri-x super 8 and looks amazing!

Hi all,
I want to shoot some titles on 16mm film. The usual white text on black
background, but I have never done this. I've heard stories about using a
light table but seems too complicate, no? I would really appreciate any
tips/recommendations you may have.
Cheers,
