I have discovered that a mini-DV of an interview we did with George Kuchar is
broken. The “door” on the cassette that opens so the tape can thread is cracked
and loose. I assume that means the tape is lost, right? ___

Keep in mind that as others have stated you can transplant the tape into
another shell, mini dv tape is extremely thin and fragile and great care
must be taken when working with the tape itself.
