The Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature at the University of Iowa invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor position in Film/Video/Media Production beginning in January 2013 for three semesters (through May 2014). We are looking for an individual with an MFA or equivalent professional/academic standing and significant experience creating his or her own films/videos and with experience teaching undergraduate Cinema majors and MFA students. Candidates should be prepared to teach in an area of specialization such as digital animation; digital cinematography; new media; documentary filmmaking; directing and/or screenwriting in classes offered to undergraduates in the Cinema B.A. program and graduate students in the Film and Video Production MFA Program. Additional requirements include (1); four years minimum of teaching, administrative or equivalent academic experience; (2) a record of artistic accomplishment; (3) a record of successful teaching in both foundational and advanced film/video production and editing (4) teaching competence in non-fiction and experimental modes of film and video production; (5) ability to work successfully with students of diverse backgrounds.
