[Frameworks] Torre Bela

2011-11-14 Thread Stoffel Debuysere
Hi all,

Anyone knows where I can find a copy of Thomas Harlan's original cut
of Torre Bela (as it was shown in 1975)? The director's cut is about
240 minutes.

Thanks for your help!

best,
Stoffel

Re: [Frameworks] Look for a Bolex

2011-11-14 Thread Daina Krumins
Hi!

I have a Rex 5 which I used to make Babobilicons, The Divine Miracle, and the
beginning of Summer LIght.

Then I went digital because I love to mess around with images and doing that on
film was just too expensive.  Also, Kodak stopped making the 16mm stocks for
optical printing.

The Rex 5 is in perfect condition and has three lenses.  Because I haven't used
it for years.

Anyway, if you want to come look at it, that's OK.  Please send me an e-mail
directly at perko...@yahoo.com.

Frame Workers,

I am looking to buy a used Bolex.  it does not have to be a Rex 5, but
it should be a reflex camera.  I want something that is clean and in
excellent working order. I am interested in a zoom lens or lenses as
well.  What is out there?   I don't want to go the e-bay route if I
don't have to.  Thanks.

Re: [Frameworks] Where to send Super 8 Ektachrome G160 7240 for processing, please?

2011-11-14 Thread Jason Halprin
About 12 months ago I had some 7240 processed at Yale Film with pretty good
results. They'll cross-process using E-6, but they seem to have their times
down. About 4 years ago I had them do some type-G film as well, with similar
results.

If you don't want to send it there, you might check with Martin Baumgarten in
Plattsburg, NY. Does anyone know, is he still operating?

Try Yale lab. I beleive they provide a once a month 7240, but may have to e6
your g160 at rocky mountain film lab...if they're still open. Although, Yale
may have a solution for that as well. Also try prep film service too. Should be
able find via google.

Try Martin Baumgarten at Plattsburg Photographic. He'll do it by hand.

This guy will do it too:

I think Yale might do 7240 as a modified E-6, but not sure about G160
because of the backing problem.

DO NOT send you film to Rocky Mountain Film Lab unless you are interested in
having your money stolen and your film lost:

http://photo.net/film-and-processing-forum/005jsk

However DO send your 7240 to Niagara Custom Lab. I sent them some test strips
of 7240 and 7250 that they processed in E-6. The tests results were decent at
normal exposure and processing. The colours didn't quite pop but given it was
15 year old free film stock, I'm pretty happy :)

 Hello you,
I am trying to pull together a list of experimental films that either fall
directly under the category of travelogue or bear witness to travel and
distance from a point of origin on the part of the filmmaker. These would
not be so much ethnographic works which are part of a sustained cultural
exchange, but films made as a result of the filmmaker passing through and
acknowledging the looming spectre/problem/pleasure of the tourist film.
Warren Sonbert, perhaps John Smith's The Hotel Diaries? I'm sure there are
 others...but can you name them?

 Thanks/Grazie/Kiitos!
