[Frameworks] Writings on TWICE A MAN

2013-08-16 Thread Maurizio Mercuri
Dear friends,
I'm looking for both the transcription of Markopoulos' TWICE A MAN
by Thomas Chomont and the writing by Kenneth Kelman published in Film
Culture, nr. 31, winter 1963-64.
Does someone know if it's possible to find them in paper or digital?
Thank you.

Best,
Maurizio

[Frameworks] The Counter Cinema of Ken Jacobs

2013-08-16 Thread Filmmakers Cooperative
The New York Film-Makers' Coop presents:
The Counter Cinema of Ken Jacobs:
Wed, August 21, 9:30pm – 11:00pm
Soho House // 29-35 Ninth Avenue New York, NY 10014

*Space limited: email filmmakersc...@gmail.com to reserve seats*

Films include: “Disorient Express”, “Jack Smith Tumbling” (from “Two
Wrenching Departures”) and “The Green Wave” “When 2D films are designed to
excite 3D seeing, a seemingly manic vibration may condition the action,
resulting in truly impossible sights. But then, how bizarre is the premise
of a 2-dimensional scene, anyway? It wasn't my idea to flatten the visible
world to a single insubstantial plane. Now look what happens to the tobacco
storefront when Jack does his prolonged dance in front of it. And what of
the sanctity of the movie rectangle, now forced to come onscreen and do
these twisty movements in depth when it was promised quiet retirement to
the sidelines forever?” –KJ

[Frameworks] Converting digital video to VHS using Premiere or something else

2013-08-16 Thread ben . weinstein
Hey Im making a stopmotion video using adobe premiere and it looks terrible
because its HD and looks too crisp. You can see all the shitty blue screening
and whatnot so I want to convert it to VHS so the mistakes don't look so
obvious. I also like the look of VHS better than HD. I've done this before
using a tape deck with a firewire cable but it was so long ago and I kind of
forget how it was done. I also don't have acces to such a tape deck. Just
wondering if anyone knew how to do this and/ or had that kind of tape deck
available in the NYC area. Thanks
