[Frameworks] Wisconsin Film Festival: Solomon, Price, Gruffat, more

2012-03-27 Thread John Powers
Hi Frameworkers,

I wanted to alert those of you in the Midwest to the experimental film programs
at the Wisconsin Film Festival this year, which is taking place April 18-22,
2012.

This year we'll have visiting filmmaker Phil Solomon presenting three programs,
two of his own work (including his latest, AMERICAN FALLS) and one of films by
others that he has selected -- this will feature the first screening of a new
print of Mark LaPore's THE FIVE BAD ELEMENTS from Mark Toscano at the Academy.

We'll also have the first screening of all 9 films in Luther Price's
BISCUIT/BISCOTT series, including the premiere of a new film (OLD SEPTEMBER
BISCUITS). As always with Luther's work, these will be original prints.

Sabine Gruffat's award-winning new essay film I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A DREAMER will
have its world premiere.

We will also be showing Ben Rivers' TWO YEARS AT SEA on 35mm.

You can see the full schedule at

www.wifilmfest.org

Tickets go on sale March 31st.

If anyone is planning on traveling for the event, please get in touch!

best,
John Powers

[Frameworks] 16mm and a Darkroom in Italy (Rome)

2012-03-27 Thread Philippe Leonard
Hello frameworkers!

I would like to know if any of you can recommend a place to rent portable
16mm projector in Italy?
More specifically in Rome but also in Bologna.
I was wondering if there was any darkroom facilities / film collectives /
micro labs in Rome?
I will be there during the month of May and June and would like to know
more about possibilities
of working with the film medium in this part of the world!

Thanks!

Phil
