Re: [Frameworks] Fred Safran
When I was director at Canyon I spoke with him on the phone. He was in Florida and stated he was not doing well and did not go into details. I assumed he was very ill. He wanted his films withdrawn and Stanford should have the information from his file. I had sold the Canyon archives to Stanford several years ago. I recommend you contact those now in control of what is called the Canyon Cinema Foundation for further information. They should be able to help you better than I can here at home. [Frameworks] Great Blondino Poster for sale
I need to liquidate many possessions I have accumulated over the years due to financial reasons and need to sell a mint condition poster of The Great Blondino. I had found this for sale a few years ago in a garage sale. You can go to http://www.ebay.com/itm/321399592824?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 where it is listed or contact me off the list and perhaps I can discount the item. Thanks much. [Frameworks] projecting 16mm at 16 fps
Does anyone have advice for finding reliable and bright 16mm projectors that run at 16 fps? This is for a potential screening of Warhol's Empire. I have shown Warhol's other silents at 18 fps (using the common model Kodak Pageant). But i need 16 fps in order to maintain Empire's correct running time of eight hours. I seem to recall an earlier Frameworks discussion on modifying Eiki projector speeds by adjusting a belt, but cannot locate that thread in a search. Any advice appreciated. Re: [Frameworks] projecting 16mm at 16 fps
Well, the king of the pack is the Kinoton machine, which is designed exactly for this sort of job. Some of the Eiki xenon projectors can run at 16 fps by moving a drive belt from one position to another, and the details are in the manuals if your Eiki can do it. I am pretty sure the EX-6100 will do it, though I don't know about the EX-9100. http://www.cardinalsound can probably rent you a Kinoton, though I don't have any idea what it will cost. --scott ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks
Re: [Frameworks] projecting 16mm at 16 fps
Hi Andy on many Eiki Projectors you can loosen the screw that holds the cover to the main body. Inside you will see a rebber belt and a roller with two sizes, small and large. Adjust the belt to the other roller. It will change the speed, however, it is debatable which speed it is . Some say 16pfs some say 18fps. I do not recall it changing the density of the bulb, however, that could present another problem such as slight burning in the center.
