As Patrick said, SHERLOCK JR. I can¹t remember exactly, but doesn¹t THE NEVER-ENDING STORY do that? And I think there are some horror films that use it, but I¹m not really a horror film person. One could argue that Twin Peaks: The Return fits, if one interprets the last segment of the last episode is Cooper and alternate-Laura now somehow being in the ³real workd." But is this right? Any character is ³in the film world.² Your¹e asking for films that have two worlds, and a character somehow moves from one to the other, and the second is where the primary narrative takes place? Buster Keaton's SHERLOCK JR. is the classic example. Also, HELLZAPOPPIN' with Ole Olson and Chic Johnson. Chuck Jones' great cartoon DUCK AMUCK is a variant on this.
