The special Members Meeting of Millennium Film Workshop that was scheduled for
tonight (Weds 8/20) has been RESCHEDULED to THURSDAY AUGUST 28, 2014, 7:00pm at
Brooklyn Fire Proof, 119 Ingraham Street, Brooklyn, NY, at 7:00 pm. The
business of the meeting will be to vote on a recommendation by the Board of
Directors that the Millennium Archive be sold to the Museum of Modern Art.
Approval of this sale is critical to Millennium's future.
The meeting has been rescheduled to allow time for voting members who cannot be
physically present at the meeting to submit a "proxy ballot" by email. This is
provided in NY state law and should assure a quorum of our voting members (one
half plus one) to vote on this important question. At present 46 "voting
members" have renewed their membership so that they are eligible to vote.
Information on the email proxy vote will be sent in a few days to all recent
and currently eligible voting members. For information on how to become a
voting member, please go to www.millenniumfilm.org
The proceeds from the sale of the Millennium Archive to MoMA will be used for
financial reorganization of Millennium and investment to improve our services
to non-commercial filmmakers (equipment/facility access, workshops, screenings,
film journal). The Millennium Archive documents nearly 50 years of artists'
cinema activity centered in New York City. It includes photography, audio
recordings and transcripts of filmmaker Q&A's; correspondence, screening and
exhibit programs; and other items gathered from artists' cinema workshops and
events that are both numerous in quantity and unique. MoMA intends to
catalogue and digitize the Archive for public access through the internet. It
plans as well an exhibition and screenings derived from the Archive.
