I was going to say it is odd that there isn't a sync sound rig available
at your school, but these days have changed.

I donated my Aaton to a school a few years ago. Most rental houses will
require insurance, often the school will provide that, so you will have
to coordinate with your school.

In Manhattan you can check out Film Friends, I don't remember what
their insurance requirements are. You might also try Du-all camera and
Hit and Run Productions. I'm not sure what the requirements are for
them, but if you have insurance (either yourself or through your school)
then you can go anywhere.

Hope this helps.

I've a lovely old 5.7mm kinoptik and a 385mm Century Tele athenar, both
in PL mount, if you need some lenses to rent.

A few others I'd pretty much give away (Like $20 bucks) to someone who
could use them.

Re: [Frameworks] Renting Sync sound 16mm Rig

2011-09-17 Thread Lars Fuchs
Thanks Steven,

There are sync sound rigs available at school, but for a variety of reasons,
mostly scheduling, there isn't one available on the one weekend I have to
shoot (i'm pretty locked in to that now.) There are MOS rigs, which I could
use in a pinch (it worked for Truffaut, but I'm no Truffaut!) Our production
has $1M insurance and permits from the city. I will try your suggestions,
and I'll call you on Monday about the PL lenses! The other lenses you
mention, are they c-mounts I could use on my BH Filmo 70?

Best regards,
Lars
