I have 16mm silent and optical sound film I need to evaluate, clean, and repair
to prep for digital transfers.
Can't believe I gave up a 4-plate Steenbeck years ago.
I haven't run my film projectors in years--refurbishing has been advised. I
have a Moviskop viewer but no optical reader.
If the film is shrunken, Steenbecks can cause serious perf damage, because of
the wrap of the sprocket around the prism. Scanners don’t have this problem.
I would just look at the film on rewinds, with a viewer if need be, but not
worry about listening to the track unless for some reason it
