but alas i'm teaching in bakersfield.
i just wound up getting some 41inch ones, but was wondering what other
people do, or what even a tripod mount without the quick release plate is
called ...

Hello there Mariah,

I'd be happy to lend or sell either one, two or three slightly compromised
tripods.  I have two with what might be called plates (although they are
gerry-rigged). I also have one with perfect legs, but without a plate. They
would be very cheap and you could pick them up at ATA Gallery.

[Frameworks] tripod question

i might be barking up the wrong tree here, but i'm teaching a video class
and need to buy a bunch of those crappy small tripods for the students -
the ones without quick release plates. Does anyone know of a halfway decent
crappy tripod with a built in mount that extends to 60in? students lose the
plates all the time.
