Re: [Frameworks] Israeli film/video art

2012-02-09 Thread Jesse Malmed
I'd highly recommend Peter Snowdon's Walking Through
Paradise
(Israeli/Palestinian
conflict, ecology, etc through an interesting, personal, landscape
non/fictive lens).

Also, the works of Guy
Ben-Ner.
And there are some pieces by Dani Leventhal that have to do with Israel. I
think they're available through Video Data Bank
.

I would second Irit Batsry.

Also, Jonathan Schwartz's NOTHING IS OVER NOTHING is great.

Shelly,
 Thank you for your suggestions.
The program is fairly open ended at this point, though its meant to run for
the duration of a fine art exhibition (painting, sculpture, mixed media) of
contemporary art from Israel so as I'm learning about each of those artists
involved I'd like to select film/video work that will complement or round out
the entire show.
I didn't want to go into too many details about the individual artists on
Frameworks, but if you have personal interest I can send you a list of the
artists involved.
Ideally I would like to work with contemporary film/video artists, preferably
I'd like to work with persons who might not normally have the chance to exhibit
alongside this artists, an opportunity for them to be seen/heard.
 Best,
 Steve Cossman

Hi Steve!

There is the Beyond Guilt Trilogy by Ruti Sela and Maayan Amir --
http://www.beyond-guilt.com/ Two female artists videotape sexually charged
interviews about people's experiences in the army. I believe it may have
shown in New York a couple years ago.

Best,
Mariya

You probably have both these artists on your list, but how about Yael Bartana
and Rosalind Nashashibi (Hreash House and Wall)?
