Nope, the solar cell is just hot and ground. The de-emphasis network for the mag device is different than the one for the optical head, so the frequency response will be way off, but it's really just a squawk box, it isn't expected to sound good. You may find 6V is too high for the exciter... and

Hey Scott, Thanks for goading me into taking a closer look! Its an SRB (bad read on the model no.) and I think I may be in luck. The 4-pin has ground plus two leads for the pickup and there is a separate 2-conductor cable for the BSS exciter. Would the solar cell just have hot and ground, or might

I don't know if there were solid state versions to work with the Moviola optical heads, but it looks like modders like to make guitar amps out of the tube amp ones, so check out this link which shows what the URS looks like and what to make sure somebody hasn't done to it to make it a guitar amp (c

The OP specified an optical head - most of the squawks I see are for multitack mag. and these won't work with an optical head as they just have 1/4" phone jacks for mag. heads. I think the moviola squawk for optical was the URS... Sorry I don't have any links handy, but make sure you're getting one

This is called a "squawk box" and you can see them on Ebay now and then for very little. Lots of companies made them, yours will work with any of them pretty much. All of the actual electronics are in the box, the head is just a coil of wire around a piece of steel and some stuff to hold it in pl

Mike, You can find piles of these on eBay squawk box as someone mentioned. Or ask SMU or some of the other Dallas schools if they have one. I'm sure they have a room full of them. Alain On Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 9:53 AM, Mike Morris wrote: > Hello All, > > I just bought a moviola optical s
