All of the camera repair guys I know either started with the National Camera
course, a US military camera repair course, an apprenticeship with Marty
Forscher, or else they transitioned from watch repair...

2015-03-19 Thread Jean-Louis Seguin
Hi Judith,

I have been repairing cameras professionally since 1980. I graduated from the
long defunct National Camera camera repair course. The first few years, I did
mostly still cameras. Since 1989, movie cameras exclusively, 16mm and some
super8. My speciality is Bolex 16mm equipment. It takes many years to become
really proficient in this field. It also takes tools, parts, special
instruments and test equipment.

If you want to start on your own, you can download some of the original course
materials from National Camera at this site:
https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=d4b54f69523e88b5&id=D4B54F69523E88B5%21112

Study them and find yourself a couple of old cameras to practice on and dig in.

Hello Judith and Frameworkers,

Actually, I'd be interested in reading replies to Judith's query on this
site. (I have done a little Bolex repairing myself, but I'd love to learn
more.)

Thanks!
