Greetings,
Transit Audio Services is still running 16mm & 35mm sound opticals & mag in
Toronto (the last 16mm Opts. in Canada?)
We purchased the optical dept. from the last great McClear Digital which bought
it from Pathe Sound. We have recently relocated, but Ray Cook, who was with all
three companies, is still our film specialist.

Hey scott, I don't know where you're located but I'm pretty sure transit audio
in toronto is still shooting opticals. They're nice guys and very skilled.

Cinelab sends theirs out to Gibbs Chapman. Alpha Cine also contracts it
out but I don't know who they send it to.

Hi Todd,

Chris (Noise & Light) retired from track making. 40 Frames has N&Ls
equipment... including a rare Harvey
camera with Maurer F prime galvo.

Thanks for clarifying.

GIbbs as far as I know will send track for processing wherever requested.
DJ sends most of there work to FotoKem. I don't
know about Chace, but NT processes track onsite in their own facility.

I don't know about Cinelab.

Re: [Frameworks] sound on film

2012-11-29 Thread Scott Dorsey
If you want do transfers to mag and edit mag and then have the optical
track done from the mag, there is no reason you can't do that today.

Magfilm is available from Kodak's motion picture office, just like film,
although they have a one-case minimum order.

I occasionally do transfers from DAT or CD if you don't have a dubber,
otherwise you can still find a lot of post houses with a dubber sitting
in the corner somewhere.

Cinelab has a guy who will do optical tracks from mag originals.
So does Alpha Cine.
