Read the corresponding talk page too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Legality_of_Bitcoins_by_country Not sure I understand the situation in Russia. People are saying it is illegal, but this Wikipedia article says otherwise. Like a traditional encyclopedia, Wikipedia is not an authoritative source of information. Outside citations are required.. and should be read. The talk page above has a link http://www.coindesk.com/fear-russian-ban-bitcoin-moscow-conference-cancellation/ which states that 'Russia did not legally “ban” Bitcoin.' There's an updated page: http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-conference-goes-ahead-moscow-despite-uncertainty/ That last link, hasn't made it even to the Wikipedia talk page To me, it's the usual, all taxes government duties to be paid in your local currency. Apparently the local media were banned from talking about the Bitcoin Summit in China: http://www.coindesk.com/china-orders-media-silence-on-global-bitcoin-summit/ However lots of people attended anyway: http://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/1509436/hundreds-attend-chinas-first-bitcoin-summit-defying-beijings-warning Politically, Russia is more of a worry than China right now. Re: [free-software-melb] DRM and Theatres
As an aside, anyone that hasn't seen a classic movie on the big screen at the Astor doesn't know what they are missing. It oozes with the warmth and atmosphere of a bygone era.. actually I suspect that other people can and probably have described an night out at the Astor better than I can. I'm kicking myself that I missed Metropolis the other week. Nice to see someone blogging the bad side of a DRM failure which was due to the wrong key being provided. Pity they didn't have the personal mobile numbers of the people that implemented that system. As one of my manager said when I was on night shift Wake up the world should you need to get a widespread issue resolved. Or words to that effect.
