To all the developers of Freeamp,

We at EMusic.com have made the tough decision not to continue
full-time development of Freeamp. This means that Rob Kaye, Mark
Elrod, Isaac Richards and Keith Steinbeck will be moving on to other
projects, some within EMusic, and some not.

I wanted to take this opportunity, first of all, to thank Rob, Mark,
Isaac and Keith for their extraordinary efforts on this extraordinary
product. I'm as proud of Freeamp as I am of anything I've done in my
career, and I think the four of you did a remarkable job as
distributed team working on an open source project. I still believe
that the Freeamp team within EMusic is the way a lot of commercial
software development will be done in the future. It was great to work
with all of you on such a grand experiment.

What does this mean for the future of Freeamp? In large part, that's
up to you, the developers. EMusic.com will continue to host the
freeamp.org domain, freeamp-dev mailing list and the CVS tree. It may
take a little while to work out the details, but new releases of
Freeamp will continue, and someone will be merging patches.

Good luck to all of you!

Brett

Just to let you guys know I will be continuing development for the
foreseeable future. It will not be full time since I will have other
duties so if you guys can help pitch in it would be great! I see this as
an opportunity to get more people involved!
