No, the same issue occurs with Chrome on Linux and Windows for some people.
It's not FreeBSD-specific. There are quite a lot of threads on various websites

With "Tomo Method" on.
Today Whatapp hanged and it was impossible to restart it !
Kill the tab, kill the windows, kill chromioum and restart => No effect.
The only way to restart whatsapp web was
