I found no way to get kdm to work, it dumps core in a qt string find
routine. wdm works kind of (the window manager menu is buggy but
repairable).

It works if you can switch your parallel port to EPP (???) mode in the
bios. Transfer speed raises also under windows with this configuration
btw.

I had until now no success in using the new linux-acrobat-4.05 from bash
or from my windowmanager menu. But it works fine when called from
linux-netscape!

When restructuring my desktop i had to plug out something. Afterwards i
recognized that
the micro is silent under freebsd (still works under windows) with the
awe64-sb. The pcm part of mixer works.

I would like to use an ASDM (backup software) with linux-emulation. I

the following in /var/log/messages:

Last weekend i tried patches from Soren Schmidt to reactivate my old
cdrom which went away after the ata-update around the 18. January. This
patches completely broke ata support for me (that means the kernel did
not boot anymore). Of course i reported this one or two days later.
Now an equivalen
Subject says all! This evening i will try a patch for the ata driver so
maybe all my
hardware at home will work again with current when certain patches are
applied.

Hard times for the box at home and freebsd-current.
there are of course some options to choose in the bios (which one would
be adequate?), but before it worked without the need to tweak the bios.
Btw. since this night i see the message from ata-all.c (it was too late
yesterday night to do more ..
my freebsd box goes down, something strange happens, when a ring signal
is detected. I
have apm disabled in the bios and no apm device in the config file.
It is "alsmost a reset", like a short power failure. The screen is
disturbed for a moment. The same happens when the alt+bs key is pressed

On a freebsd-current box there is a second scsi-cdrom (a cd-writer
working fine with cdrecord). I remade the devices with MAKEDEV,
everything is new, but there is nothing new like cd1c ... Looking at the
source the minor number of cd0c has to be increased by 8.

i tried to make me a new handbook, so i needed jade.
But the newest C++ fashion (g++ under current) has changed to fast for
this very old 1998 heavily template based source code distribution ;-).
I had a lot of problems with const and not const .. and gave up. It is
far to much to post here ...
