there are to many user programs that depend upon the kernel version...

this is NOT linux as you have stated, and w/ FreeBSD the entire operating
system comes as one package... unlike Linux where the userland is
completely seperate from the kernel developement...

anyways, it's the -current kernel that is really the part that isn't
designed for production use, not the userland...  you could probably
build a -current userland w/ a -stable kernel, but that's another ball
of wax...
