Hi,
Just saw the talk about sched_ule, nvidia driver, moused and pauses...
I was running -current up until about a month ago, using the nvidia
driver, sched_bsd on a dual ht xeon, with htt disabled. Mouse
interactivity with moused was terrible - I actually thought the mouse
was faulty. Getting
back and forth between
linux and BSD - like to play with both, kinda waiting for 5.x to mature
- its getting really close.

All,
A constant in one of the kernel header file seems to have been renamed. Change
PCIR_HEADERTYPE to PCIR_HDRTYPE in the NVIDIA code and all will be well.
I have tried this myself and all is well.

All,
Recently started trying to get freebsd 5.1+ to work on my laptop. With 5.1 and
above, I've found that unless ACPI is disabled, I cant use any PS/2 mouse -

an interrupt.
Boot logs are available here:

Just installed 5.1 RC1 on my Dual Prestonia Xeon box. Works great. In fact
this is the first time i've had much success with the 5.x branch.
Anyway, heres my question. Despite the fact that I've recompiled my kernel
with SMP and IOAPIC enabled, I seem to have only one CPU running. At

Some progress to report - ran top -S as suggested, and could see the two idle

sysctl machdep.halt_logical_cpus=0. Both CPU threads are active, occupying
~100% of thier respective cpus. Run my

Just a quick report - testing 5.0 rc2 on a dual xeon 2.0G (Supermicro p4dce+).
Seems that if I compile the kernel with CPU greater that I486_CPU, the
machine will boot, startx, be usable for a random period of time and then
lock up.
I dont know if the lockups occur in single CPU mode or
