The configuration that we were sold is pure FC-AL. No fabrics. Don't do that, it's bad for your sanity. You need qlogic 2300 cards and the isp driver which Matt Jacob maintains. I've had FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE with a QLA2200 card connected to an IBM ESS (Shark) through IBM 2109-S16 switches (Brocade 3800) working very well. You have to tell the Shark to only use 1 interface for that host (we have 3 per Shark) as there is no dual pathing code yet for FreeBSD.
