Also, if you limit -mcrypto -maltivec -mvsx to little-endian then
USES=compiler:c++14-lang can be dropped from powerpc64.

Did you try adjusting USES like on powerpc64? comment 7 indicates powerpc uses
base GCC but powerpc64 us
