Matt, What's probably happening is that we're not recognizing the PHY device that the sis900 uses, or the card itself is doing something wierd. I wondered what would happen under RedHat 7.3 so I installed it on a spare partition. I hoped that this may be helpfull to pinpoint the problem

Matt, What's probably happening is that we're not recognizing the PHY device that the sis900 uses, or the card itself is doing something wierd. This desknote computrer came with an OEM version of ThisLinux. So I installed that to find out how it handles the sis900 and all other pci-devices.
