I cannot start pidgin. The shell freezes endless entering pidgin.

It seems that the patch was damaged by some MUA. Try
http://people.freebsd.org/~kib/misc/i915_dma.patch
I've sucessfully applied the patch.
Is it necessary to make
make make install
in /usr/src/sys?

Also, just in case, try the patch below and report whether it helps.

After installation of Xorg 7.2 and a complete rebuild of linux-emulation
on FreeBSD 6.2 Stable,
X related linux programms like skype, linux-relplayer or acroread
doesn't start.
Trying to start skype, linux-relplayer or acroread ends with a
Segmentation fault message.
Is it possible
