Please don't add the freebsd-ports mailing to the CC field in Bugzilla issues.

We appreciate that waiting can be frustrating, and that people want to get
their issues additional exposure. Posting (yourself) about the issue and what
it needs on the list is OK, however.

In this case the issue is already assigned (to sunpoet). Where issues are
already assigned, the issue can be 'timed out' after 2 or so weeks of no action
(after being assigned), and the assignee can be reset, opening it up to someone
else to assign themselves.

Alternatively, if one of your issues is already assigned to someone, feel free
to ping that committer (on the issue as a comment preferably, or by email), and
ask them to reset assignment if they can't work on it. Note that sometimes it's
better (and quicker) to have an assignee than not, as it may take longer for
someone else to assign themselves.

If no response is received after that, cc bugmeister with a comment on the
issue and we will reset the Assignee.

Also note there is a relatively large queue for new ports at the moment, and if
everything else is done (QA, etc), normally the only thing to do is wait for a
committer to take it and commit.

Hi Martin, thanks for your submission. For this and future issues, please:

- Confirm the change (patch) passes QA (portlint & poudriere). For more
information see:
https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/porters-handbook/testing.html

- Set the maintainer-approval flag to + on attachments for ports you are
maintainer of. Attachment -> Details -> maintainer-approval [+]

- Don't CC the freebsd-ports mailing list, as new Ports & Package issues are
already automatically assigned to the freebsd-ports-bugs list.

- Setting maintainer-feedback flag to + is only required if it is set to ?
first (which means asking the maintainer for feedback, which doesn't apply when
the maintainer is the reporter)

[Bug 214456] lang/gcc6: -r424540: FreeBSD's WITH_DEBUG= and full bootstrap are incompatible and the build stops (powerpc 32-bit anyway)

2016-11-14 Thread bugzilla-noreply

(In reply to Mark Millard from comment #4)

I normally have WITH_DEBUG "always on" and have not tied omitting it to see if
there
still would be a -gtoggle difference for lang/gcc6. So I've not really done
enough
to blame WITH_DEBUG for sure for lang/gcc6. (Let me know if you need the
behavior
confirmed for lack of WITH_DEBUG.) (I normally also have WTIH_DEBUG_FILES
"always
on".)

Side note on why I suspect WITH_DEBUG:

I've run into multiple ports that independently use WITH_DEBUG for their own
purposes (even outside of FreeBSD contexts). One of those requires disabling
WITH_DEBUG for it to complete building:

(bugzilla 206679)
www/webkit-qt5: ar: libWebCore.a: File truncated for debug/libWebCore.a when
FreeBSD ports' WITH_DEBUG= is used

I wish FreeBSD's ports infrastructure had picked a less generic name, say
something
like WITH_FBSD_DBG , that effectively could be treated as reserved because
preexisting matches were rather unlikely compared to WITH_DEBUG .

Making a port that uses WITH_DEBUG on its own use something else for its
internal
purposes and then maintaining that status over time would likely be a major
pain.

(Luckily: at least for now I do not build anything that indirectly gets to
www/webkit-qt5 .)

[Bug 214456] lang/gcc6: -r424540: FreeBSD's WITH_DEBUG= and full bootstrap are incompatible and the build stops (powerpc 32-bit anyway)

2016-11-14 Thread bugzilla-noreply

(In reply to Gerald Pfeifer from comment #3)

Below gives the evidence from the script log file. But the summary is that,
while both
stage 2 and stage 3 list -g in the powerpc xg++ command, stage 2's xg++ command
has
-gtoggle and stage 3's xg++ command does not.

-gtoggle is described in
https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Developer-Options.html as:

-gtoggle
Turn off generation of debug info, if leaving out this option generates it, or
turn it
on at level 2 otherwise. The position of this argument in the command line does
not
matter; it takes effect after all other options are processed, and it does so
only once,
no matter how many times it is given. This is mainly intended to be used with
-fcompare-debug.

I'll note that so far I've only seen the mismatched comparison on powerpc, not
even
powerpc64. amd64 and armv6 have not had a mismatch.

The detailed evidence using read-rtl.c and its read-rtl.o as an example . . .

The first compile (stage 1) of read-rtl.o from the log (just shown for
reference):

c++ -std=gnu++98 -c   -g -DIN_GCC-fno-strict-aliasing -fno-exceptions

own line)

Andreas, does this trigger anything?

Mark, I am very surprised that any global setting would affect stage 3
build of GCC versus stage 2 build since these two should be built identically
- which is the point of the bootstrap and comparing these two stages.

For me to debug this, I do lack to this environment (hardware as well
FreeBSD version), and it seems both are needed to trigger this.

What I recommend you check out is comparing two compiler invocations
for one and the same file, one in the stage 2 build, the other in the
stage 3 build. Which, if any, differences do you see?

Hi,

My main question is:
Does it make still sense for `make makeplist` to replace all 'bin' with
'%%QT_BINDIR%%' or should it be changed to avoid that?

BTW: What triggers the replacement? (USE_QT4?)

Greetings

You do know that make makeplist generate a plist that starts with:

better in caps ?

Fix the munged name reassignment and add the maintainer to CC. dnssec-verify,
the logs, and configs are all part of BIND and it appears to be dns/bind99
based off a best guess from the dig output.

If a port breaks because some other packages are installed, but should
not be used for that port (Why is that happening here, by the way?) that
looks like an issue with that port, doesn't it?

Adding maintainer for net/tigervnc.

Given you created the report, and that it has been through portmgr@ -> gerald@,
who needs to now be assigned, or what changes need to be made to progress the
issue?

Does the summary need clarification?
Is this a pkg feature request @ upstream?

I agree with most of this. (Using one's toolchain C++ run-time library
with binaries built by the other is probably tougher and more fragile
than the benefit.)

This is a clear case where having the ability to easily break one port
into several binary packages (as RPM has been doing for quite a while)
would be great.

Once we have this, certainly worth a try. Before that, and for the
time being, I won't be able to make this a priority.

--- Comment #2 from John Marino mar...@freebsd.org ---
the port is not maintained, the patch is doesn't come with a test log.
However, it's only a pkg-plist change (which requires a PORTREVISION bump which
is missing), so I'll move it to patch ready for further testing.

 This port has no maintainer.

Please consider providing a patch to resolve the reported issue, and taking
maintainership to ensure this port remains up to date and of a high quality.

Port need a lot of work maybe x11-team or another teams can get maintainership?
Also: Partial solution is enable hal option by default.

Patch for comms/hylafax port.

It is actually comms/hylafax bug, not the kernel bug.

The releaseAtLeast() function in the configure script compares OS version as a
string, and that is wrong.

# expr 9.3-RELEASE \= 3.0
1
# expr 10.1-RELEASE \= 3.0
0

As a result, hylafax is building without CONFIG_OPENFIFO=O_RDWR.

Thanks for your help.

I setup a jail (8.2 world with 10-STABLE kernel) to run hylafax, it works very
well for 1 year.

git master is a moving target, better use a commit hash or tag so distfile
checksum wouldn't change over time. Here's a trick.

|poudriere testport -P| log (9.3R i386)

It seems the Porter's Handbook agrees with portlint(1) but I cannot find actual
rationale. However, looking at DISTVERSION implementation it should work fine
with both set. And attached smoke test log confirms my conjecture.

$ portlint -C
FATAL: Makefile: either PORTVERSION or DISTVERSION must be specified, not both.
1 fatal error and 0 warnings found.

Porter's Handbook says:
Only one of PORTVERSION and DISTVERSION can be set at a time. If DISTVERSION
does not derive a correct PORTVERSION, do not use DISTVERSION, set
PORTVERSION to the right value and set DISTNAME with PORTNAME with either
some computation of PORTVERSION or the verbatim upstream version.

# Mk/bsd.port.mk has
.if defined(PORTVERSION)
.if ${PORTVERSION:M*[-_,]*}x != x
IGNORE=PORTVERSION ${PORTVERSION} may not contain '-' '_' or ','
.endif
DISTVERSION?=${PORTVERSION:S/:/::/g}
.elif defined(DISTVERSION)
PORTVERSION=
${DISTVERSION:tl:C/([a-z])[a-z]+/\1/g:C/([0-9])([a-z])/\1.\2/g:C/:(.)/\1/g:C/[^a-z0-9+]+/./g}
