Try (as root): # XFree86 -configure That *should* write a configuration file into root's home directory. Then run : # XFree86 -xf86config /path/to/the/new/config If it works you can tweak it from there (e.g. bit depth, screen resolution, refresh frequency, etc.). If not... um... your
