Hi All: I am running: FreeBSD 6.3-RELEASE-p5 #3: Sun Oct 5 15:31:05 EDT 2008 On a Sager 8800 Laptop. I have had FreeBSD installed for about a year, and all is working perfectly. I can bring up KDE, run many apps, all without a problem, except for ONE recent development. Every so often FreeBSD

Where to look? What to try? I am truly stumped here. at logs. it look like SOMETHING (or someone ;) initiates such shutdown. i don't remember case where FreeBSD would shutdown itself the way you said - cleanly, closing all programs etc - in case of panic/kernel error.
