I am having a problem with the setup in the subject upon exiting X to go
back to the console. When I exit, I end up with a garbled FAST rolling
screen. The only way out is a reboot, that I have been able to discover
thus far anyway. I thought I saw something about this somewhere, but my

Hello list,
Something strange just occured on a quite busy server running

Install some rootkit and reboot, perhaps?

I would like to try and install FreeBSD 2.11 on a i386 with 4MB RAM.
FreeBSD 2.11 is available from ftp://moe.2bsd.com/pub/2.11BSD.
Unfortunatly, there are several hundred small files in this directory. At
present I am using Netscape and shift_clicking on each name is slow and
painful :-) .
I have discovered one other thing. If I use vidcontrol VESA_800x600 for
the console, the garbled screen does not happen when I exit X. This
would be great if I could figure out how to get the vidcontrol VESA to
support a resolution of 1024x768. Anyone got any pointers on this?
Thanks!

Hi all. Noob question. Didn't see the OpenSSH 3.5 in the ports when I
checked earlier and yet Slashdot says it's out. Anyone know if it is
yet and if not, when it will be?
Also, is this a recommended upgrade or a required one? Aka you need it
to fix a big, big issue or something.
Thanks!!
I'm trying to do old-style kernel builds with 4.7 (though I've run
into this same issue with earlier releases and other motherboards).
In the Handbook, it says that if you are compiling for an IDE-only
system, you can remove the following:

The last day's I tied to get ssh(d) working. My firewall is running FreeBSD

You do realise the sshd in 4.4-RELEASE has a serious security

The ink on the announcement isn't dry yet and you're
Use ncftp (in the ports) to download an entire directory. You can use the
-R switch with get, as in get -R dirname to fetch a directory and
everything in it.
If you want to download it from Windows, you can use an ftp client like
WS_FTP, which can be found on www.download.com.
