Installation from Floppies

2005-03-27 Thread Nick Wilson
Hi
I am trying to install 5.3 from floppies/network and I boot from the the
three discs (boot, kern1 and kern2). At the end of this I get the
FreeBSD 5 boot screen (about 8 options and the character drawing of a
daemon). Taking the default option 1 just starts the boot from floppies
process again - how do I get past this screen to start the network setup
and install?

Many thanks,
Nick

Sendmail TLS

2004-12-29 Thread Nick Wilson
I have tried to set up TLS for Sendmail, as described in chapter 14.9 of
the handbook. Having created the certificates in /etc/certs and
modified the sendmail .mc file, I have the following problem:

With the myca.key file permissions set to readable by root only
-rwx-- 1 root wheel 736 Dec 29 17:11 myca.key
sendmail gives the message
Dec 29 18:57:01 jericho sm-mta[901]: STARTTLS=server, error:
SSL_CTX_use_PrivateKey_file(/etc/certs/myca.key) failed

if I set the permissions to add group readable, I get
Dec 29 17:27:02 jericho sm-mta[659]: STARTTLS=server: file
/etc/certs/myca.key unsafe: Group readable file

What owner, group and permissions should I set for myca.key?
Many thanks,
Nick

Limiting an account to FTP only

2003-07-01 Thread Nick Wilson
Hi

I am wanting to limit an account to FTP only, for uploading web pages to a
server. I have ftpchroot'ed the account to limit access to the directories
I want to - is there any way of disabling all other access
(SSH/telnet/rlogin/SMTP auth etc). I thought about removing the shell type
from the user account but believe ftpd needs a shell to be specified to
validate the logon.

Many thanks,

Nick Wilson
